
Sylvya J. Stevenson
Sylvya founded and serves as the current president of the National Congress of Black Women, Inc.-Kansas City Chapter, a non-partisan, civic, community organization dedicated to the political and social upliftment of Black women. Sylvya is a public servant and nonprofit leader who through policy, administration, and community, promotes and encourages women, and especially women of color, to seek public office and executive leadership careers in government. Sylvya was appointed Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) of Jackson County, Missouri Government and served as the first African American to hold the Executive Leadership position. Her service commitment and affiliations extend to memberships and various civic organizations, boards, and commissions, including Missouri Women Leading Government, Jackson County Pension Plan Board of Trustees, International City/County Manager Association (ICMA), Women Employment Network (WEN), Bruce R. Watkins Cultural Heritage Museum and Center and membership in Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.
